Indonesian Language Study Program
Global change and science and technology development especially information technology nfluences development of education. Education is expected to be able anticipating the change. Thus, government reform the curriculum of education. It is based on the decree of the Minister of National Education of the RI No. 232/U/2000 and No. 045/U/2002 about competency-based curriculum for higher education.
Essentially, curriculum is a set of plans and regulations about objective, content, and teaching material as well as the way used as guidance of teaching-learning process to reach particular education goal. Recent curriculum is more direced on KBK which provides oportunity for higher education especially study proogram to determine policy on open and flexible teaching learning process. Therefore, a study program is expected to be able to improve education quality which develops student's competence by accomodating the needs of society, industry, and government basen on the demands of era.
Regarding the curriculum change, Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature of FTTE UMM is responsible to do it. It is intended to reform various aspects from preparation to implementation which cover: (a) discussion with expert of curriculum, (b) curriculum restructurization: (1) determining vision, mission, and study progarm competency; (2) restructurization of subject status; (3) arrange description of subject.
Vision of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program is becoming excellent study program in developing science of language education, Indonesian literature, and the teaching as well as producing professional graduates who are sensible to the problems in society based on their insights on science and Islam.
Based on the vission above, the missions of the Indonesian Language and Literature:
a. Organizing education in Indonesian language and literature as well as the teaching based on scientific and Islamic insights.
b. Creating academic environment through scientific activities in the field of Indonesian language and literature and the teaching based on Islamic insight.
c. Organizing community service activities in the field of Indonesian language and literature and the teaching based on scientific and Islamic insights.
d. Maintaining cooperation with relevan institution to support achievement of professional, pedagogic, social, and personal competences based on Islamic insight.
Competency of Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program are life skill and lifelong learning standardized and must be achieved by students through learning experience which consists of main and supporting competences.
The main competence os the study program are knowledge, attitude, and skill in Indonesian language and literature as well as the teaching and art performance based on Islamic insight. The main competences cover subject group: Matakuliah Pengembangan Kepribadian (MPK), Matakuliah Keilmuan dan Keterampilan (MKK), and Matakuliah Keahlian Berkarya (MKB), with the following competences.
a. MPK Group: Improvement of faith, taqwa, and Muhammadiyah as well as sense of civic responsibility, nationhood, and statehood.
b. MKK Group: Knowledge, attitude, and skill in Indonesial language and literature and the teaching.
c. MKB Group: Development of critical creativity and responsibility in the practices of language, literary, and the teaching.
The supporting competences of the study program are knowledge, attitude, and skill which support teacher training. The supporting competences cover Matakuliah Keahlian Berkarya (MKB Khusus) and Matakuliah Berkehidupan Bersama (MBB). The competences cover the following subjects:
a. MKB Khusus Group: Developing skill and work ethics in journalism and acting.
b. MBB Group: Acquisition of practical experience based on profession needs in the society.
Overall things to be achieved by the graduates of Indonesian Language and Literature are professional, pedagogic, social, and personal competences in Indonesian language, literature, and the teaching as well as supporting competence in the field of Indonesian language, literature, and the teaching in the field of journalism.
