Undergraduate PGSD program presents as an effort to respond (1) society demand on the academic quality improvement of teacher; and (2) Acs No.14, 2005 about Teacher and Lecturer.
Learning orgnization of PGSD Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang is supported by experienced leacturers with Master and Doctoral titles from both domestic and foreign universities. Besides, in order to produce profssional graduates there have been provided supporting facilities in the form of Micro-teaching Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Drama Laboratory, and Multimedia Learning Laboratory. The study program also facilitates Outdoor Laboratory for students practical training by cooperating with Pusat Studi Kependudukan dan Lingkungan (PSLK) and Bimbingan Konseling (BK).
In addition, intra organizations and students' curricular activities (such as Scout, KSR, Arts, Photography, Nature Lover, Choir, IMM, HMJ) are accomocated through Student Activity Unit (UKM) which is centered in Student Center (SC) of UMM. New students are equipped with Pelatihan Pengembangan Kepribadian dan Kepemimpinan (P2KK), followed by Internet Application Program. To produce qualified PGSD graduates who are able to communicate internationally, students are required to take ESP (English for Specific Purpose) for 1 year.
With the facilities given optimally, it is expected to devliver PGSD graduates tobe teacher based on the vision and missions of PGSD, namely producing competent teacher in: 1).ethics and moral values 2). science and technology, and 3).educational innovation 4) being excellent and competitive nationally and internationally in the field of primary education, professional in doing teaching at schools, dedicating profession based on ethics and moral values 5). Realizing to be study program with conducive and dynamic academic environments which encourages the development of scientific, cultural, social, religious lives, as well as having effective and efficient management system in performing activities of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.
1) Producing teachers who are:
a. excellent and competitive nationally and internationally in the field of promary shool education
b. professional in teaching at school
c. having anticipative, responsive, and creative attitudes in doing education reformation at school
d. dedicating the profession based ethic and moral values
2) Realizing as study program which has conducive and dynamic academic environment which encourages the development of scientific, cultural, social, and religious lives as well as having effective and efficient management system in performing activities of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi
a. Having awareness and showing attitude of being highly educated citizents who are religious, democratic, and smart
b. Mastering discipline which is related to basic science substance and technology of five subjects in primary school (Bahasa Indonesia, Mathmatics, IPA, IPS, and PPKn)
c. Able to manage learning which orients to student's needs and beneficiaries
d. Mastering educational science concepts especially which relates to primary school education
e. Able to find and solve problems of education and improve organization of education in primary school
f. Able to appreciate science and technology so that they can think and act as bachelors in primary school teacher training
g. Able to understand individual differences from cognitive and emotional aspects in the development of students
h. Mastering learning strategy in detail and complete which refer to establishment of understanding on attitude, values, and skills
i. Able to work and be responsible in exploring various ways of information acquisition to develop-advance skill independently, including using information and communication technology in learning context.
