Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan/PPKN (Civic Law)
Along with the line of reformation in this country, PPKn (Civic Law) Study Program through the vision and missions want to deliver students to be bachelors who are professional in their disciplines; having high integrity, high work ethics, being honest, fair, aas well as having dedication to religion, nation, and state besides of having nobility of character based on Pancasila and UUD 1945. Thus, the Civic Law Department has reconstructed integrated curriculum in the field of theory and practice by using cross discipline approach synergically among politics, law, governance, education, and ethics.
Meanwhile, to reach it applicatively, students will conduct direct observation in their field practice by visiting state agencies (legislative, executive, and judiciary) at central or local governments as well as private agencies besides practicum at the laboratory. For instance, Pusat Pengkajian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat untuk Demokrasi dan Kesejajahtraan (P3MDK) Civic Law Department, Pusat Sumber Belajar (PSB), Computer Lab. (CH FKIP-UMM) and Lembaga Kerjasama Penumbuhan Karakter Bangsa (LKPKB) as member, and laboratory judicial law (cooperation with FH-UMM).
Therefore, the graduates are expected to be not only mature in civil law, governance, and social teaching professions, but also become politic observer and or pilitician, journalist. Besides, they are also expected to be able to work at state and private agencies. To support the second profession, the Department of Civic Law has equipped and accomplished the curriculum by adding relevant subjects to the demands of jobs, namely English (D-1 level), journalism, and computer skill.
Becoming leading study program and referential institution in developing and implementing Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) which based on education and reserch so that it would be able produce graduates who are professional in their disciplines, having high integrity, having high work ethics, being honest, being fair, as well as having dedication to religion, nation, and state besides of being able to compete in regional and national levels based on Pancasila and UUD 1945.
As an academic institution at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Civic Law Study Program has the following missions.
a. Organizing program of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi so that it would be able to produce qualified graduates in the field of PPKn teaching profession and guarantee the quality of the graduates who are able to follow the development and develop science in general as well as Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) in particular.
b. Performing academic administrative service orderly and systematically so that students feel comfortable and satisfied and then they are encouraged to finish their programmed study.
The main competency of the study program is becoming professional teaching staff in the field of Civic Law in general and education in particular who have high dedication to the nation integrity thorugh enforcement values of democracy, truth, and justice as well as magnanimity based on science and technology and faith and taqwa to the God the Almighty in line with Pancasila and UUD 1945
In addition, the supporting competence of the study program is becoming legal practitioner with global insight, human rights understanding, and enterpreneurship.
Another competency is becoming observer and practitioner through skills of journalism, computer, and English.
Meanwhile, the standart competence of the graduates are:
a. Mastering science of Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) in particular and educational science in general
b. Having consistent attitude and behaviour as a teacher who understands educational science and Civic Law.
c. Having skill in law, human rights, and enterpreneurship.
d. Having sensibility to the development phenomena of educational and law sciences in general and Civic Law in particular.
e. Being able to develop innovation in the field of PPKn teaching based on the demands of era.
f. Being able to conduct activity outside the educational profession as required by other competence.
