Deputy Governor of Province in Thailand is Impressed by UMM's Education Program

There is no doubt in the international progress of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). In the field of education alone, the university which is nicknamed the White Campus has a significant role in advancing education, not only in Indonesia, but also at the ASEAN level. One of the significant roles is to advance education in Thailand.

Appreciation to the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMMalso came from various parties. One of them was given by the related state officials. For example, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Team had the opportunity to meet the Deputy Governor of Narrathiwa Province and leaders of the Attarkiah Islamic Institute College at a dinner party (14/2).

Attended by the Dean, Deputy Dean, and all Heads of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, as well as the Editors of the Indonesian Biology Education Journal (JPBI) and the UMM Internationalization PIC, the meeting was carried out in a warm vibes. Deputy Governor of Narrathiwat, Fatimah, expressed his gratitude to Indonesia and UMM in his remarks. "I would like to express my gratitude to Indonesia, especially the Muhammmadiyah University Malang who has contributed in advancing education for Muslim residents who are majority in Narrathiwat," said Fatimah while mentioning the names of several UMM alumni in Narrathiwat.

Narrathiwat Province is located in Southern Thailand which has a majority Muslim population of 89%. Many of the education practitioners there are alumni from Muhammadiyah, including from UMM. Seeing the large contribution of knowledge provided by UMM alumni, Fatimah was very enthusiastic about the visit. Fatimah also expressed her wish to be able to visit UMM. "The Muslims in Narrathiwat need to maintain their culture and develop it, through education, the next generation of Muslims will survive," said Fatimah.

The meeting of the the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education team with Fatimah was a part of the goodwill journey of the Dean. The trip was to support the programs of the Minister of Education and Culture and the UMM Rector, namely the Merdeka Campus and the Free Learning Campus.

   MOU With Attarkiah Islamic Institute

FKIP UMM also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Attarkiah Islamic Institute led by Dr. Phaisan Thoryib in International Internships. Not without reason, the collaboration between FKIP UMM and Attarkiah Islamic Institute itself has been initiated since 2015.

In the meeting, some notes are highlighted. Thailand would provide accommodation, consumption, and often salary and tourist facilities in Thailand for every UMM student who conduct practical internships and KKN. The provision of these facilities underlies the UMM FKIP team to make a visit to strengthen relations and cooperation. Through this goodwill journey, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education team also visited two universities in two other provinces. Thaksin University in Songklha and Fatoni University in Pattani, FKIP also signed an MoA with each university with the aim of supporting the Independent Campus and Independent Learning programs.
