Priority Four of Education 2011

Jakarta --- The National Education Minister Mohammad Nuh put forward four priority areas of education in 2011. These priorities are respectively basic education, vocational and polytechnic education, accelerated doctoral, and early childhood education (ECD).

 
In a press conference after a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of Independence-65, on August 17, Minister Nuh said, basic education a priority, including Book affairs and student worksheet (LKS). "We fully expect in 2011," he said.

 

Vocational education are vocational schools (SMK) and the polytechnics are prioritized to address employment issues. "We prepare the working personnel who have skills and expertise," he said.

 

While the acceleration of a doctoral qualification in higher education became the next priority. Minister mentioned, there are currently 23 thousand lecturers doctoral educational background (S3), from 270 thousand lecturers or about 8 percent. Therefore, said Minister of Education, up to 2014-2015 the government intends to increase up to 20 percent, or 30 thousand educated lecturer S-3. "Every year there should be an additional new doctorates at universities around 5-6 thousand," he said.


The next priority, says Minister of Education, namely early childhood education. Currently the gross enrollment rate (GER) ECD nationally reached 54 percent. In certain areas there that reached 70 percent. "Therefore, we also began in 2011 ECD genjot. As soon as possible we can send them to school well," he said. (Ali)
