FKIP News—The Indonesian Language Education Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a guest lecture on the theme "Research Opportunities in Technology Integration: Identifying Research Areas Focused on the Application of New Technologies in Education." The event, held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in the BAU Hall, 2nd floor, aimed to broaden students' perspectives on research based on modern technology, particularly in the context of education.

The event began with a performance by the LSO Sangkar Aksara, who delivered two powerful poetry musicalizations: Sajak Putih by Chairil Anwar and Kita by Corrie Layun Rampan. The team, consisting of Rizqon, Dimas, Laras, Iin, Hana, and Yuda, combined poetry with harmonious music, creating a poignant and meaningful atmosphere.

Following the performance, the guest lecture session commenced, with Dr. Cahyo Hasanudin, M.Pd., a lecturer at IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro and experienced researcher in external research and mentoring for UKM Riset dan Penalaran, serving as the speaker. In his presentation, Dr. Cahyo explored important aspects of research opportunities in technology integration, such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, the development of augmented reality (AR)-based learning media, and the application of big data for educational analysis.

He also discussed strategies for how young researchers, particularly students, can explore innovative ideas and leverage technology trends to solve real-world educational problems. "Technology is the key to creating education that is more inclusive, interactive, and relevant to the needs of the times. Students must be brave enough to experiment and develop solutions through research," said Dr. Cahyo during the guest lecture.

In addition to theoretical discussions, Dr. Cahyo shared his personal experiences in the research world, including tips for getting research proposals approved for competitive funding programs such as the Student Creativity Program (PKM). "The main key is to understand the needs of society, align research ideas with current technology trends, and write them systematically," he added.

Dr. Cahyo also shared an inspiring quote that resonated with the participants: "If today you write, tomorrow you write, the day after you write, and every day you write, then that writing will never mean anything unless you publish it." This quote emphasized the importance of publishing research results to make a wider impact.

The guest lecture was highly appreciated by the participants. One of the students present shared that the event provided a new perspective on how technology can be integrated into Indonesian language education. "It was very useful, especially in preparing our research for the future," said one attendee.

With this event, the Indonesian Language Education Program at FKIP UMM continues to demonstrate its commitment to encouraging students to become innovative researchers relevant to global needs. It is hoped that such guest lectures will become a regular agenda to inspire more students. (*bi/ed:fd)
